Happily Ever After
Magpies are monogamous, which means they have only one partner for their whole life.
Their nests are usually large and dome-shapped made up of sticks, mud and other soft materials such as grass or feather. Nests are often reused each mating season.
Magpies lays 5-7 eggs per season and both parents are involved with feeding and protectng the chicks.
Fierce Australians
Australian magpies are very territorial and show no fear chasing after intruders double their size, which may result in these bizzare scenarios. This behavior is called swooping.
Unfortunately, we also may be a victim of swooping, especially during mating season.
